On Tuesday the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that Kevin Hart would be the host of their 91st Academy Awards - or the Oscars as many refer to them.
Time jump to Friday and hell is a blazin' for the star of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie and I'm a Grown Little Man.
Comedian Kevin Hart has now resigned from hosting the Oscars after a number of past homophobic tweets he made came to the surface. Example: Hart described a photo of actor Damien Dante Wayans as looking “like a gay bill board for AIDS.”
The tweets have been talked about before, but apparently the Academy needed reminded.
On Wednesday Hart was deleting such tweets right and left looking like someone frantically getting rid of the evidence, as cops pounded on the door.
“Hart’s obsession with making unfunny, disrespectful and inappropriate jokes about a community he has shown nothing but bile for along with a string of unrepentant responses to any criticism paints him as someone entirely undeserving of a spot on the Oscars stage,” wrote Benjamin Lee, East Coast arts editor for the Guardian US.
You'll need to weigh Kevin Hart's latest video remarks to his behavior just hours before whern he was angry, refusing to apologize, and telling the public to take their negativity elsewhere. Also, the Academy told him to apologize or be dropped as host to which he initially refused. We won't really know if he resigned on his own or is just trying to save face over the Academy getting rid of him.
He now talks about having evolved, while at the same time not showing any evolution. Hart basically condemns others by saying if they don't believe him it's their fault. That's childish.
Whatever Hart says or does from this point on must be taken with a grain of salt. Hart has done these half-ass apology videos before. He's brought insincerity to an art form.
Hart needs to get his fragile masculinity in check and steer his comedy to self-deprecation - where the material will be rich.
